Few plants other than hemlocks can survive in this forest community.

The giant hemlocks prevent most rays of sunlight from reaching the forest floor. Their needles are also quite acidic, which makes for unfriendly growing conditions for other tree species.

For these two reasons, Lofty Hemlocks will likely dominate this forest community for years to come.
